Hello, Crafty Friends, I am doing a tag tutorial series. There will be at least 3 videos in this series.
In the first tutorial of the series we will play with tag shapes. Does tag need to be in a specific shape? No. Does it have a standard shape? Of course not. The definition of tag in Oxford dictionary doesn’t even mention shape. It can be in any shape. Do you want it to be square? Sure. Rectangular? Not a problem. How about a triangle or circle? Go for it. Use whatever shape makes you happy.
For this tutorial, I have prepared 12 different tag shapes templates for you. There are 6 varieties in vertical orientation and 6 varieties in non orientational. All tags are either maximum 4.9” wide or 7” tall. I think this is a good size for a general half A4 or letter size journal and if you enlarge the tag, the non straight edges won’t be distorted too much. I put these tags for free on my Ko-Fi and Google Drive.
In the link, there will be a PDF file and a PNG folder. You can print the PDF in the original size, half, quarter or in any percentage you want. You can also print them in original size then copy it in bigger or smaller size. I wrote a short tutorial on how to print PDF documents in larger or smaller sizes without other programs. I will also put the link to the PDF printing tutorial on the description box. I will also make a short slideshow style tutorial video in the near future and post here. For a nice reusable template, I suggest you print in either a thick cardstock or print in a copy paper then back it up with a thick paper like cereal box or junk ads. I printed mine in a junk mail paper and backed it with a junk ad from mail. We, in the USA, get a lot of this kind of political ads during election season. I usually kept the thick ones for templates.
Another tip for you who print on copy paper then back it with thicker material. Don’t cut precisely before backing it up. Leave a good paper allowance around the shape and run your glue in a zigzag motion along the border. This way, when you cut the excess paper, the edge will adhere properly.
The PNG folder, there will be 12 individual PNG files. One file for each tag shape style. You can upload these images to your electronic cutting machine without the need of cleaning the background and cut the tag template in any size you want. I cut myself a set of tag templates from 2” wide to 6.5” wide in quarter inch increment. This is one of my tag template sets. I cut these in thick junk ads from mail for reusability.
I understand some ladies don’t have an electronic cutting machine. So, I would like to offer cutting two sets of tag templates of your choice for one of my YouTube subscribers. Leave a comment in the video with 2 tag styles of your choice, the maximum and the minimum size you want. I will pick the winner in my video next Thursday. I will cut them in junk ads similar to mine. Some of them might be political ads so, please ignore the content of the ads. I look at those papers only as valuable template material. I will pick the lucky subscriber on my next video that will be posted next Thursday.
Check the video for ideas on how to use the tag templates and more tips. Please subscribe if you haven’t done so. I am trying to reach 500 subscribers this year (there will be another giveaway when I reach my goal).
Happy Crafting,
Sherls
