Lazy Chinese New Year 2023

I have another quick lazy cards project to share - Chinese New Year cards.
Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in my family. My parents' generation and above made it a big deal to visit or call other family members to deliver their new year's greeting. When I left my home country, I made sure to call or send Chinese New Year cards back home. It became very challenging after I came to the US for my master study. I couldn't find any Chinese New Year cards and that's how I got into paper crafting.

Before I bought my Cricut, I hand drew my cards. This is one that I have left. Then I made simple Chinese New Year cards using Cricut. These are inspired by the traditional Chinese window frame. I used both negative and positive sides to make different cards. This year I almost missed the date. I just realized early January that the Chinese New Year is coming up 2 days after my second child’s birthday! That’s why I decided to make lazy Chinese New Year cards ala Sherls - designing a printable. I shared these cards for free on my Ko-Fi page and my Drive. Links are in the description box.

These cards are ONLY available in Letter size. I am sorry about that, my non-US Crafty friends. I didn’t have enough time left before the holiday and it’s taking me more time to design in both sizes. So… I am truly sorry.

I made a total of 8 designs - 4 portrait layouts and 4 horizontal layouts. They are available in card front style and a ready to print card style. I am going to send these cards to my family in Indonesia and friends in Taiwan. I thought they would appreciate the traditional style cards more so I made them so. I also have the rabbit year Chinese New Year greetings: 4 in portrait layouts and 4 in landscape layouts. I didn’t come up with these greetings. I looked at Chinese websites and picked the ones I like. All the characters here are traditional Chinese characters. The people in mainland China are using simplified versions but my friends in Taiwan are using traditional ones. So, I used the traditional ones.

I hope you love the digitals I designed. I would really love to see what you will create with the digitals if you would like to share.

Sherls
