Yes, I know it's been a long time since I updated my Blog. While I still occasionally upload videos on my YT, I neglected this blog. My life has been very busy. I moved in 2021 then a month later I got pregnant. It wasn't an easy pregnancy. I pretty much became a couch resident for most of 2021.
After my third son, Sneaky, was born, life didn't get easier. With the pandemic lockdown being relaxed, our 2 older girls were getting more outdoor time. That means more germs and almost continuous sickness.
Sweetie, my second daughter, got sick often after Cutie, the firstborn daughter went to preschool in 2021. I thought she would fare better when she started preschool in 2022. How wonderful that thought was.... In reality, the coughing or runny nose seems to never leave our house. The common flu virus has been thriving in our household since October last year. It didn't spare anyone, including the baby.
Anyways, in this new year, I really hope and be positive that it will be a much better year. Well, we got a hiccup already in the first week of January. The preschool was supposed to reopen Wednesday, January 4 but due to "unfortunate situation" - quote from the email, the reopening was postponed to January 9. All my plans had to be postponed because of it. This post was also meant to be done in the first week of January. Well, better late than never.
This is my goal for 2023: reaching at least 500 YouTube subscribers! I have had this account for a long time and every year I told myself I will be posting videos more regularly but it never happens. Now I am putting this out here so you, my Crafty Friends, can help hold me accountable. And to make it happen, these are my action plans:
- post at least one video every week
Yeah, it's my forever game plan. This year it will be different, I am positive. First of all, I am putting this plan out here so you, my Crafty Friends, can hold me accountable. Second, I made small life changes - waking up early to give myself some me-time and set up a specific day for recording.
I am also fully aware that life with 3 young kids (5F, 3F, and 1M) is very unpredictable. Since the oldest two are going to preschool, they often get sick when the weather is getting cold. In fact, from early October until last week, they caught the common flu in turn. I also finally caught the flu before Christmas. I tend to keep this private but this year I will make an update on my Instagram or Facebook Page if I have to postpone due to personal life issues.
- do the annual giveaway
- release Freebie Friday weekly
One of the things I found when watching the kids last week was they let me sit in front of the computer for a good minute at a time. They would still interrupt me but it's a good few minutes they left me alone and did an electronic crafting - designing printable or catching up on Facebook. So, it's my goal to design at least one printable every week and share it for free every Friday. You bet, I posted the first Freebie Friday last week. Check it out here or go to my Instagram or Facebook Page to get the freebie link. My hope was to do a video for each Freebie Friday. On occasions like last week, I might only be able to release it through my Instagram, Facebook Page or Ko-Fi. I also announced it on the Ko-Fi account I set up last week. Please follow me on Instagram/Facebook Page/Ko-Fi if you don't want to miss any of my freebies. I also put my 2022 Christmas Card freebies in the Ko-Fi. Now the exciting part, I found out by chance that my deactivated Instagram account was reactivated. My Instagram was hacked somewhere in April last year, then a few weeks later it was deactivated. I appealed to Instagram twice but I never heard it back. With lots of things going on in life, I decided to give up on it. Last week during my short break while watching all 3 kids, I unknowingly clicked on an Instagram link. I absentmindedly logged in into my Instagram and it let me through!!! I was so happy though my Instagram account was back to a blank state - no posts, no followers, no following. Nothing! So, I want to share this happiness by doing an Instagram giveaway.
I have prepared a selection of crafty supplies we always need: a variety of natural dyed papers, a variety of avocado dyed glassine bags, upholstery fabric samples and a fake leather piece. This giveaway is open to the US and international. To have a chance winning this giveaway, you need to follow my Instagram: SherlsCrafts. I will randomly pick a winner amongst my Instagram followers on January 31, 2023 9 PM Pacific Time and announce the winner the following day, February 1, 2023.
Don’t worry if you don’t have an Instagram account, I have giveaways in the plan for you - the Secret Subscribers Giveaway, Christmas Giveaway and many more. Also when I reach my 500 YouTube subscribers, I will do a bigger giveaway and one of the gifts will include this amazing metal box I have.
What are you waiting for, Crafty Friends, go find me on Instagram, Facebook Page, and Ko-Fi and follow me. Also, don’t forget to subscribe and leave a comment if you will. Your comment always brings me joy.
Happy Crafting,
Sherls
