I have a great uncle whose birthday is coming up. He can understand Chinese and always love to receive anything written in Chinese. Unfortunately, being in USA, it's hard for me to get a birthday card with Chinese greeting so I decided to make one. I would love to make him one with more elaborated design but I don't have the luxury time to do so. I still have couple Christmas gift projects to finish before this weekend (so we can send it next week) and other craft-unrelated project to finish. So, I came up with this 10-minutes-DIY-birthday-card.
The process of making the card didn't take me a long time. Maybe around 10 minutes. Measuring and cutting the papers takes a bit longer. OK, it's not 10 minutes but it's really quick and easy.
What you need for this are:
- a card stock paper
- a inner layout paper (0.5 inch smaller in height and width than the main card)
- colour markers
- colour pencils (optional)
- fancy edged scissor (optional)
- double sided tape or glue
Steps: (Since it's so easy to make this one, I don't think anyone need picture by picture instruction)
- Cut one side of my cardstock paper with Fiskar Paper Edgers Clour Scissor to make it more fancy. (optional)
- Draw the layout of the tree and the "Happy Birthday" in Chinese with a pencil then trace it with colour markers. Since the colour markers can leave a trace behind the paper, I suggest you to open the card and trace it. I used black colour pencil to fill the tree trunk for the same reason - avoid the stain behind the paper. Using different colour markers, draw different size and orientation of balloons around the main trunk.
- Stick the inner layout paper inside the card. I used double sided tape on one edge of the paper and stick it on the back of the balloon-tree design to cover the stain that caused by the colour marker.
- Write your personal message and you are done.
It's super easy, isn't it? Do you have any other easy birthday card idea?
Happy DIY-ing,
Sherls
