Our kitchen has been finished a little while ago. Today I finally got the time to show off our kitchen with the completed furniture, that is baker's rack, moving kitchen island and my craft table. Enough with talking. Let's see the finished picture =)
The bakers rack and the kitchen island proved to be great additions to our kitchen. The bakers rack works perfectly to hold the microwave, cereals, baking ingredients, and other spices that we use occasionally. The kitchen island provides more counter space to prepare food. The placement, just like what I thought, is perfect. The two drawer is perfect to store the baking and cooking utensil that I often use when preparing. I use the cabinet to store plates, bowl, and oil that usually stand beside the stove. I also put our 3-tier drying rack besides the sink to hold the wet and clean dishes.

Re-purpose the baker's rack back rack |
If you notice, I didn't install the back rack of the bakers rack. I chose this one because of the rack to hang stuff. Unfortunately, the light switch and a strange control (we have no idea what is that), make it impossible to install it. Now I hung it behind the kitchen door to hang the cleaning utensils and my husband's lunch box.

Up close kitchen island |
The kitchen island looks good with the room. The knife holder hold perfectly our steak knives, the big Chinese knife and the small knife. I use the holder to hold the mittens. The height which was my concern before, proves to be not a problem. My only problem with this kitchen island is the door. Ok, the assembly manual was obviously poorly written. The main problem is they messed up the position of the hole in one of the door. The magnets are also so weak that the doors open so easily. Oh, one of the hinge that included was also too tight to fit. In the end, we decided not to install one of the door. I was sad. I chose this one for the closed cabinets. However, now I like the open cabinet. It is easy to access especially while I am cooking. I used it to store the cooking oils, soy sauce, cooking wine, vinegar and other cooking ingredients. If you noticed, I also label the drawer and the cabinet so when my husband need to find something, he doesn't have to ask me anytime. He said this is perfect =D
And, don't forget about the Hobbit's cave.

Inside the Hobbit's cave |
I used the sticking out HVAC as my book shelf (mostly crafting books/ recipe books). I also store the cereal boxes that I want to use later inside the cave. Oh, if you notice, the black wood the the left wall is the kitchen island door. I want to use it as a black board on my craft table. In the front line is my craft working projects. And the circle on the top wall is... gift paper wrapper. See this post for closer look.
Btw, the rainbow light effect in the pictures come from this ornament made by mother in law. The rainbow light effect only happen when the sun directly hit the crystal ornament which is around 3 PM and 6 PM during summer.

Isn't it neat? |
