Ideally, we want an open space and spacious kitchen - living
room so we can put our computer table and my craft table in living room. My
husband loves to put the computer desk in the living room so he can play computer
games while watching TV. I love to have accompany when making craft or cooking.
Sadly, this living room is too small for all of them. So, we have to choose
one. Being an understanding wife, I let him having his computer table in the
living room and we will move the craft table in the kitchen.

I spent quite a while browsing for the furniture online.
First I searched for the model we like then find the online shop that has the
best price. We ended up ordering our furniture from Amazon, Target and
Walmart. I was lucky to order some of our furniture on Target when they have
$15 off of furniture order above $75. We didn't order a lot of furniture from
Target but we still save $30. Good job for me! In addition with the rebates I
got from MrRebates over the purchase, I save around $50. Not much but enough
for me to buy more craft supplies.

We got a Bush Business Furniture Series C: Right L-Bow Desk
from Amazon for my husband's computer desk. It's a lot expensive than my but I
think it worth to spend the money. He also uses his right arm a lot when
playing computer games. The curve on the table looks perfect to give him a nice
right arm rest. We received this furniture this Monday. It was a beast furniture! It was heavy (127 lb) - heavier that the couch. ~Sorry Fedex guy~. It was also challenging to assembly. Don't expect to assembly it by yourself if you want to buy one. However, it was worth it. It keep the annoying cables that I hate from my view and it - as I hoped - provide a nice right arm-rest. My husband said by far this is the best computer table he has! :)

| Convenience Concepts TV stand with 2 Cabinets |
Next furniture that goes into this room is TV stand. Originally I chose online from Ikea. I like the storage under the TV and the height is similar to my husband's preference. However, he complained that the Ikea's TV stand was too long. He wants the TV stand not to stick too much from the width of the TV. When we went to Ikea we saw one TV stand that fit his criteria. However, Ikea didn't have the item. Not wanting to drive all the way to East Palo Alto, we decided to try to find one online with similar size. And the one I found is the TV stand from Target. It's not pricey, easy to install (except there were tiny defect here and there) and importantly, it has two door storage were I can put all of our electronic stuff. He said it was strange to store anything related to electronic/computer there but I disagreed. It's the perfect place! We use most of our electronic in the living room. And the computer is also there. Anyways, I will post later how I storage our cables, etc there.

| Sauder Edge Water Lift-Top Coffee Table |
I always wanted a lift-top coffee table. The first time I saw one was when we visited my mother-in-law house. I immediately fall in love with it. It will solve the problem of my husband preference to eat in the living room while watching TV. In his apartment, he bought an ugly C table. I hate that table. Not only it looked ugly but also hard to storage. It's weird for me to have a coffee table and another small table just because you want to be able to pull the table close to you. The table was also small that it was challenging to put more than two dishes on the table. Yes, sometimes I cook an elaborated dinner with the condiments that requires more room. This table was perfect. We can lift the top closer to us and it is wide enough for me to put our dinner. Importantly, now I can also eat beside him :) As a bonus, this table can also function as my craft table in living room. Another reason I love this table is of course, the storage. I can store some stuff underneath the lift-top surface and the slots underneath it. I haven't think of what kind of stuff I can store there but I know I want to make a woven paper basket to keep whatever clutter I store from the eyes. This table was scheduled to arrive today.

It was hard to find the sofa online. We went to Ikea tried to find one that we love but we couldn't find one that we like (especially my husband). I only care about the material and he care more about the softness of the sofa. The other problem we faced was the size of the sofa. While we love the L-shaped sofa, our small living room and the computer table restricted our sofa to be smaller than 80 inches wide. Importantly, we wanted it to be shipped home. Our small car won't be able to carry it home. So, we went online after coming back from Ikea. After looking couple websites, we found this cheap sofa from Walmart. Well, there are couple reviews that indeed worry me. Nevertheless, we still decided to go for it. The sofa is not arrived yet. It's scheduled to arrive this Friday. Hopefully it will come in perfect shape - not broken or teared down as what happened to some of the reviewers. Finger crossed!

| Better Homes and Gardens Iron Fleur Area Rug |
Yup, as you can see all of our main furniture in the living room was either black or dark coloured. To contrast it and to make the room brighter, I decided to buy a bright coloured rug that will goes underneath the sofa and the coffee table. The one that I picked was from Walmart: the Better Homes and Gardens Iron Fleur Area Rug. Btw, did I mention that I was surprised on how expensive rug is? It shocked me! I didn't expect that some rug can be as pricey as or more expensive the computer table! Anyways, I am lucky to find one that I love from Walmart for under $150. It was always a gamble to buy something cheap. There were reviews about hug rough this rug is. Fortunately, it was a win. The rug was soft enough. The sofa and the coffee table are not here yet but so far I whenever I see the rug, I feel happy. I love the flower pattern. It looks elegant. The colour also brighten the room. The only problem - probably - was the cream colour pops every single dirt. Well, that means I should just need to vacuum often, right? And hopefully, Roomba - our slave robot - can help me with this (we haven't put the slave into work yet since we move in).
In addition to these furniture that we bought online, we also bought a storage system from Ikea that we purpose it for shoe rack and an executive chair that serves as computer chair. This weekend we plan to put a sound insulation on the door that lead to the other apartment's bedroom and later I will make a curtain - a bright coloured curtain that brighten the room. We also want to get an extra long rod to put up a curtain on the long window and another small rod to put a curtain on the glass door. While it's nice to see the trees outside through the door, we still want some privacy.
Well, that's all about our living room idea. So far, this is what it looks like (picture taken yesterday before we assembly the TV stand).
